We are pleased to announce that Pitbauchlie House Hotel has achieved Silver level resulting from our Green Tourism grading visit on 06/07/2009. Our green Policy We the Managers of Pitbauchlie House Hotel are committed to good environmental practice and aim to reduce the environmental impact of all our business activities. We will ensure that our Business meets the minimum requirements set by environmental law in the country and that it fulfils its legal Duty of Care requirements for waste disposal. We are committed to continual environmental improvement in our business and we will aim to include & train the staff employed by the Business in our environmental programme. We will ensure the responsible use of energy throughout the business including energy conservation and energy efficiency. We will aim to buy environmentally friendly produce and products for use in the Business and to encourage our suppliers to operate good environmental practice and improve their own environmental awareness. We will aim to make contact with the community and other businesses to encourage additional environmental measures. We will aim to conserve and encourage the natural flora and fauna for future generations. This policy will be adopted and reviewed by the board of directors. It will be available to staff and public and reviewed and revised periodically. We welcome any suggestions about how our environmental policy can be further improved Corporate Social Responsibility The Pitbauchlie house hotel recognises its environmental responsibility, and has an on-going commitment to seek efficient ways of reducing the impact that its business activities have on the environment. The hotel also considers the interests of society by taking responsibility for the impact of its activities on employees, customers and the community. This places a requirement on us to conduct our business responsibly and ethically.
Environmental Policy In a drive to establish best practice in the development and management of eco-tourism matters, the Pitbauchlie House Hotel embraces as policy the guidelines set out by the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS). The GTBS is an environmental accreditation scheme for tourism related businesses, launched in the late1990s by Visit Scotland (formerly the Scottish Tourist Board). The scheme encourages tourism businesses to improve their environmental performance by developing and implementing cost efficient ways of conserving energy, recycling waste and where appropriate, encouraging the wildlife, flora and fauna within its grounds. The Green Tourism Award Pitbauchlie House Hotel has been awarded Silver. Our sister hotel the Best Western Kings Manor Hotel’s environmental performance was first evaluated in 1997. This assessment resulted in the hotel being granted Silver Award recognition. The Best Western Kings Manor Hotel was re-evaluated in 2000, the hotel’s endeavours over the preceding three years were recognised by it being upgraded to Gold Award standard, the highest award achievable, and following bi-annual inspections since, the Gold Award has been retained. We are not content to sit on our laurels however, and continue to strive to further improve the environmental performance of the business. Green Team A “Green Team” has been established comprising nominated members of staff from various departments. Community The hotel seeks ways of supporting local projects concerned with environmental issues, and when suitable opportunities arise, staff will be encouraged to participate in such projects. The ‘Green Folder’ This folder includes information relating to public transport and other environment matters which may be interesting and helpful to visitors to the hotel. Please ask for the folder at Reception. If there is any additional information which you think could be included in the ‘Green Folder’ please let us know. Feedback We would welcome guest’s comments on their experience of the hotel’s environmental efforts, and any suggestions as to what we might do to enhance them will be considered.
